9th October Race Results

Sunday was another day that promised little but turned out to be an enjoyable day’s sailing.  A bit of a fiasco on the slipway delayed us from getting started when we found some people had their motor boat half out of the water when the wheel fell off their road trailer.  As a result the slipway was blocked and our first job was performing a rescue to get their boat in the water and helping them drag their one wheeled trailer up the slipway!  Anyway enough of that!

Eventually the buoys where deployed and the dinghies could launch.  It was great to see lots of activity and nine boats in our fleet, 3 Flying Dutchmen, RS Vision, RS Vareo, Lark, Wayfarer, Europe and Cassi Cassi.  Although the wind was forecast to be very light and started out that way, it picked up by 12:30 and there was plenty of wind for racing.

Although there were 7 boats who signed on to race, only 3 of us seemed to complete the races and record times.  Self timing is always a bit difficult to keep track of.  Known results are shown below:

Race One – 4 Laps

Crew Boat Handicap Rec’d Time Corrected Time Position
Graham & Lynne RS Vision 425 1134 1952 1721 1
Malcolm RS Vareo 403 1071 1895 1769 2
Ian & David Lark 2503 1071 1968 1838 3

Race Two – 2 Laps

Crew Boat Handicap Rec’d Time Corrected Time Position
Graham & Lynne RS Vision 425 1134 940 829 1
Ian & David Lark 2503 1071 943 880 2
Malcolm RS Vareo 1071 948 885 3

Thanks again to Nigel and David Belsey for providing Safety Boat cover and to David Watkins for OOD duty.  And I’m sure the unfortunate guys who lost there wheel were grateful for our help earlier in the day!
