Santa Irene Club de Vela is a Registered Sports Club of Andalucía. The sailing club was established to introduce the sport of sailing to this area of Andalucia and membership is open to everybody, whether you are a novice and want to learn to sail or an experienced sailor already. The Club is for members only, although you don’t have to be a boat owner. Membership is open to everyone and we welcome members from other sailing clubs based in Spain or abroad who are visiting the Garrucha/Mojácar area. We are not limited to class either and, although the club was initially set up for dinghies, our membership has a variety of craft including dinghies, cats, cruisers and motor boats. Something for everyone!
The main aim of the club is to provide a platform for like minded people to get together, to give boat owners an opportunity to advance their skills by dipping into the pool of experience that exists within the club by way of the membership, allow boat owners to have a crew source, to provide safety boat cover on sailing days via the club safety boat and to save our members some money when using the slipway at Garrucha. This is because the club has been given the privilege, by the port authorities, of paying the single user price but allowing all our members unlimited access to use the slipway with a dinghy.
We extend a very warm welcome to everybody so why not pay us a visit and come on down to the Garrucha new marina dinghy park on a Sunday at 11:00?
The club sails from Garrucha Marina Slipway and may on occasions use the local beaches.
The club is well equipped to cater for all levels of experience.
Club and member’s boats include the following:
- Flying Dutchman (3)
- Wayfarer (4)
- RS Vision (2)
- RS Vareo
- Topaz 14m Catamaran
One of our members has a traditional sailing yawl of 5 metres ” Kittiwake Classic”.
